In 1987 I received my Business Administration Degree from Cornell University, an Ivy League School. Then I graduated with a two year MBA Diploma from the State University of New York at Binghamton. Finally, in 1992, I received my law degree from Capital Law School in Columbus, Ohio.
From 1993 to 1996 I was an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office. In that position I handled a wide variety of cases ranging from Juvenile Court to capital offenses. While at the Franklin County Prosecutor’s office I presented over 5,000 cases to the Grand Jury. With my prosecution experience, I am able to work efficiently with both sides.
In 1996 I left the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office to become a Defense Attorney. My experience includes over 50 successful Jury Trials ranging from death penalty cases down to minor misdemeanor traffic infractions. I am Death Penalty certified and have kept several clients from receiving the death penalty, and do not have any clients on Death Row. I have been involved in many high profile cases, which includes the Ohio I-270 Serial Shooter. I have a wonderful working relationship with the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office, as well as other counties. I have also represented police officers and teachers across the state of Ohio.
I am Of-Counsel at the large labor firm of Cloppert, Sauter, Latanick & Washburn, which represents several unions in the State of Ohio, (ie., FOP, OEA/NEA, TWUA). The Cloppert firm specializes in representing union issues for law enforcement and teachers. I work with that firm when union members are accused of criminal misconduct and/or traffic infractions while on the job. In 2000, in addition to being Of-Counsel at the Cloppert firm, I also established my own firm which has continued to grow steadily in size.
I have also lectured and given presentations on various criminal issues including how to deal with the media in high profile type cases.
I have a professional staff who is dedicated to the efficient and ethical representation of all clients. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance to myself and my staff. My paralegal, Stacy A. Royster, and I have worked together since 1997 on every type of case. We have a support staff who is committed to being polite, patient and professional in meeting the needs of future, current and past clients and their families.
